Therapeutic Body Work

Still Point Wellness Massage and Body Work

My practice includes several components that I call the Path of Still Point Wellness.  My intention with Still Point Wellness is to ensure that my practice is the most accessible, effective, personalized and affordable advanced body work and massage experience in the Lakeway/Bee Caves area.

A Multi-Dimensional Approach

A multi-dimensional approach to body work acknowledges that we all have a unique tension or stress profile that reflects how complex systems in our body express or manifest blocked energy.  My massage and body work practice assesses and addresses, with a wide variety of modalities, tension and imbalance held in various bodily systems as follows:

Healing into Wholeness — The Path of Still Point Wellness

The Path of Still Point Wellness arises from a Still Point, an inner peace devoid of barriers to interconnection and meaning. This Still Point is our True Nature. Since this Still Point is at the heart of our Being, the inner peace that resides here is available to anyone, at any time. Connecting with this Still Point or True Nature, reveals a place in us that is always well.

As such, my body work practice addresses, in collaboration with my clients, each condition as an expression of Being. Instead of fixing problems, SPW is based on forming a path of action from this still place of wellness, to release barriers to wellness through bodywork, self-care, education and service.

My practice includes several underlying principles of the Path of Still Point Wellness.  These include:

  • Integrated modalities to address a variety of clinical and orthopedic conditions
  • Addressing the whole person instead of a specific condition
  • Tight muscles arise from weakness and compensation patterns
  • When there is an injury the muscle system puts in a compensation program
  • The main function of muscles is to protect joints
  • Wellness and pain reduction is based on bringing vitality to your system through assessing areas that are not active or firing and activating them in order to allow or giver permission to areas of tension to release
  • Tension arises from below
  • Our musculo skeletal systems main job is to assimilate gravitation forces through the body. This begins with the first joints in our toes and extends through our entire system to the neck and head
  • We have two intelligence centers and they need to work together
  • When something does not perceive it is supported it will be tense until it finds support
  • Activation of posterior muscles releases anterior muscles and the chakra energy centers
  • The solar plexus is the integration point for mind body and spirit and it relates to the celiac plexus, core star, respiratory diaphragm, the mixed nerves such as the phrenic nerves.

About Eric Mendelman

Trained and certified through the Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage and the Upledger Institute for Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Eric conducts a wide range of full body assessments related to postural and skeletal alignment, fascial stress patterns, cranio-sacral rhythm, and lymph congestion which establishes a clear baseline for therapeutic body work. Far beyond cookie cutter approaches, the customized therapies which emerge from the assessment process are strategically tuned to your personal history, current stresses and challenges, and compensation patterns.

This detailed information forms the basis for a therapeutic plan and health enhancing strategy tailored exclusively for you. Combining relaxation with Deep Massage, Orthopedic Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Cranio Sacral Therapy, Manual Lymph Drainage, Reiki, Swedish Massage, Sports Massage (including stretching and joint mobilization to unwrap tension and open you up), Prenatal Massage and Geriatric Massage, this strategy supports and enhances your path to reduced stress, mental clarity, physical, mental, and emotional healing, and potentially more freedom and joy in daily life.

In addition to his massage therapy license, Eric is certified in CranioSacral Therapy Techniques, Manual Lymph Drainage and Advanced Reiki. He has also earned a black belt in Aikido, a Japanese martial art, and has sustained a meditation practice in both the Transcendental Meditation and Rinzai Zen traditions for over 30 years. This training and life experience form the basis for Still Point Wellness.

Through Still Point Wellness, Eric shares his experience in the martial arts, zen meditation, nutrition and exercise, to support and sustain the benefits of therapeutic body work. His intention is that Still Point Wellness helps us navigate the wide variety of health strategies in order to find our unique and authentic wellness path.

Eric’s goal, then, is to provide a space where constraints can dissipate and an expanded vision of one’s Being and by extension, one’s current potential can unfold. Ultimately my greatest wish for you is peace of mind, fullness of heart, and a happy fulfilling life.
